NHRC notices to DM & SP, Ghaziabad over allegation of child worker tied and beaten
The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report along with a photograph depicting a child worker tied up with a pole with his hands up alleging that he was beaten up in a coal shop by its owner for stealing and selling coal worth Rs.100. The incident was reported to have happened on the 16thDecember, 2014 at a shop name as Shiv Coal Depot located in District Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh. The Commission has observed that the contents of the press report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim child. Accordingly, it has issued notices to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh calling for a report within two weeks. |
