The Special Judge, CBI cases, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) has convicted Shri Bilasrao Barwad then field officer, State Bank of India, Korba U/s 7, 13 (2 ) r/w 13 (1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 and sentenced him to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 25,000/- each under both the sections in a bribery case. CBI had registered a Case against Bilasrao Barwad, Field Officer, SBI, Gevra Project Branch, Korba U/s 7, 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint alleging a demand of bribe for Rs.6000/- for further processing and sanction of Personal Loan of Rs.75,000/- (approx). A trap was laid on 29.06.2010 and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs, 6000/- from Complainant. A charge sheet was filed against Shri Bilasrao Barwad, then Field Officer, SBI on 20/12/2010 in the Court of Special Judge, CBI cases Raipur U/s 7 & 13 (2) r/w 13 (1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. In another case, the Special Judge, CBI cases, Jabalplur (Madhya Pradesh) has convicted Shri Dilip Takhtani, then Inspector of Income Tax, and Shri Brijendra Nath Bala @ B N Bala, then Inspector of Income Tax, both working in the office of Commissioner of Income Tax-II, Jabalpur, in a bribery case. Shri Dilip Takhtani was sentenced to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.15,000/- and Shri Brijendra Nath Bala @ B N Bala was sentenced to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.5,000/-. CBI had filed charge sheet before the Special Judge, CBI cases, Jabalplur on 24-02-2009 U/s 120-B of IPC and Sections 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988, alleging that Shri Dilip Takhtani in conspiracy with Shri B. N. Bala demanded an illegal gratification of Rs. 1,000/- for not conducting proceedings of Income Tax Act on the basis of survey conducted by them earlier. Both the accused were caught red handed on 11-09-2008 while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1,000/- from the Complainant. |
