CBI FILES A CHARGE SHEET AGAINST THEN OFFICER OF ALLAHABAD BANK FOR CAUSING AN ALLEGED LOSS OF RS. 22.78 LAKHS (APPROX) TO BANK

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a charge-sheet in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) U/s 409, 420, 477A of IPC & Section 13 (2) r/w 13(1)(c) & (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and sections 66-C & 66-D of Information and Technology Act, 2000 against then Officer Scale-I, Allahabad Bank, Wright Town Branch, Jabalpur, for causing an alleged loss of Rs. 22.78 Lakhs (approx) to Bank.

A case was registered U/s 409, 420, 477-A of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) & (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against then Officer Scale-I, Allahabad Bank, Wright Town Branch, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) on the allegations that during the period from 01.062009 to 04.08.2012, he had illegally embezzled / misappropriated the amount of Rs. 22,78,732/-(approx) by making different unauthorized transaction from various bank accounts in respect of Impersonal heads viz. TDS on A/c of Term Deposit / Salaries / Contractors, BGL Interest Paid on RD, Interest paid FD and Call Deposit etc. as well as in respect of in-operative personal saving bank accounts of Allahabad Bank, Wright Town Branch, Jabalpur and thereby, caused equivalent pecuniary loss to bank.

            During investigation, it was revealed that the accused fraudulently transferred the amount from impersonal account of the banks as well as from personal accounts of the account holder into his personal / joint accounts and accounts of private firms, and utilized such amount for himself. The accused was arrested at West Midnapur (West Bengal). He was produced before the Designated Court and was remanded to Judicial Custody.

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused is presumed to be innocent till his guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
