CHRISTMAS CONCERT FROM BARTOK TO KURTÁG by clarinet - piano duo, PETER SZUCS and PETER KISS

The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre presents a Christmas Concert by the clarinet – piano duo PETER SZUCS and PETER KISS on Sunday, 7th December, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Hungarian Centre’s Auditorium.

About the Duo

Péter Kiss pianist and Peter Szucs clarinetist rank among the most excellent young musicians in Hungary. After graduating from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, one of their main missions is to acquaint the world with Hungarian music. Therefore, they made a concert program that has been performed in many European cities (Rome, Paris, Warsaw, Budapest, Bucharest, Miercurea Ciuc among others) and in India. The program focuses on the works of the greatest Hungarian composers of the 20th century: Bartók, Ligeti, Kurtág and Eötvös.

Biography of the Artists

Peter Szucs, clarinetist

Peter Szűcs (clarinet) is a graduate from Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and is currently a part of the doctoral (DLA) program at the Academy. The most important influences in the development of the young artist came with the association and lectures of various eminent musicians. He has been a prize-winner at several international competitions. Besides playing compositions of classicism and romanticism, he has a special interest in the 20th and 21st century’s music. As a chamber musician, he frequently collaborates with many well known Hungarian ensembles and orchestras.

 

.Peter Kiss, pianist

Peter Kiss (piano) began to play piano at the age of 9 and is a doctoral student at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. He won several prizes at national and international competitions. He has toured in many European countries and in the USA and as a chamber musician, he has been a part of various music festivals and summer courses. He got his first CD made in 2007. He is committed for contemporary music and made several world and national premieres, followed by radio recordings. He has also worked several times with UMZE Ensemble. He is also a member of Trio Inception and Ludium Ensemble and is primarily focused on the works of György Kurtag.
