LIFE IMPRISONMENT TO AN ACCUSED IN A CASE RELATING TO MUDER OF PROFESSOR VISHRAM GIRDHAR PATILOF JALGAON
The Trial Court at Jalgaon (Maharashtra) has convicted Shri Raju Chintaman Sonawane, a private person in a case relating to murder of Professor Vishram Girdhar Patil of Jalgaon and sentenced him to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs.5000/- U/s 302 of IPC and ten years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.2000/- U/s 120-B of IPC. CBI had registered a case on 15.03.2007 U/s. 302, 34 of IPC on the Orders of Hon’ble Bombay High Court, Aurangabad Bench dated 23.02.2007 in the of murder of Prof. Vishram Girdhar Patil @ V.G. Tatya, the then President of a political party of Jalgaon District on 21.09.2005 on a kuchha road near Manraj Park, Jalgaon.
After thorough investigation, CBI filed a charge sheet against accused Raju Chintaman Sonawane and three others. One out of three accused expired. The other two filed CWPs in Bombay High Court, Aurangabad Bench. Hence, the Session Court, Jalgaon separated the case against these two accused on 18.03.2009, charges were framed against Raju Chintaman Sonawane on 30.10.2009 and trial continued. The Trial Court took cognizance against two more accused on 07.07.2014 which was stayed by the High Court.
