
The Central Bureau of Investigation has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with super specialised Gujarat Forensic Science University at
New Delhi. The MoU seeks to establish collaboration for the purpose of
identifying new areas for application of Forensic Science, including
Behavioral science, Forensic Nanotechnology, Computer Forensics,
Forensic Pharmacy etc. in the fields of Criminal Investigation. This MoU
also aims to providing enabling platform for capacity building of
Supervisory and Investigating Officers of CBI; Scientists from Central
Forensic Science Laboratory and other officers attending CBI Academy in
the art of interview & interrogation through modern tools available
for analysis of human behavior and various other aspects of use of
forensic science in scientific investigation of cases. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ranjit Sinha, Director, CBI said this Memorandum of Understanding is an expression of convergence of will of two leading institutions of India to collaborate substantively in the intended common areas of action to enhance academic knowledge. Shri Sinha further said that through joint effort and commitment, all the three stakeholders, that is, CBI; Central Forensic Science Laboratory, New Delhi and the Gujarat Forensic Science University would benefit to the greatest extent by holding joint training programmes in the field of application of Forensic Science in Criminal investigation. Dr.J.M.Vyas, Director General, Gujarat Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar highlighted that this was the first such MoU of the GFSU with any investigating agency. He also said GFSU will help to upgrade the existing forensic laboratory of the CBI. The MoU was signed by Shri Ranjit Singha, Director, CBI and Shri J.M. Vyas, Director General of Gujarat Forensic Science University. Gujarat Forensic Science University, established in 2009 is the only University across the world, dedicated to forensic & investigative science. The function was attended by senior officers of CBI and representatives of Gujarat Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar. |
