CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST SEVEN THEN POLICE OFFICIAL OF WEST BENGAL GOVERNMENT IN A CASE RELATING TO AN ALLEGED DEATH OF A PRIVATE PERSON
            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet U/s 304, 324, 342 & 218 of IPC in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hooghly (West Bengal) against seven then police officials, including two Sub Inspectors, three Assistant Sub Inspectors & two Constables, all of Police Station Dhaniakhali, Distt. Hooghly (West Bengal) for allegedly causing death of Shri Kazi Nasiruddin (a Potato Trader) by negligence.

            It was alleged that Shri Kazi Nasiruddin (Age 40 years), resident of village Joyrambati, District Hooghly (West Bengal) who was a local potato trader died in police custody of Police Station Dhaniakhali on 18.01.2013.  A FIR was registered on the complaint of wife of deceased U/s 304, 379 of IPC.  Subsequently on a writ petition filed by family member of the deceased, Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta on 13.05.2013 transferred investigation of the case to CBI. 

            CBI registered the case. After thorough investigation, a charge sheet against seven then Police officials was recently filed.

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it.  Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
