15 year old girl trafficked from West Bengal,has been rescued from the capital today.Reeta (name changed) was promised marriage by Kamal,her friend in the village who brought her to Delhi under the deception and sold her to placement agency where she was physically and sexually exploited and forced into domestic labour in Anand Vihar in Delhi.

While a missing childrens complaint was lodged in 24 West Pargana ,West Bengal,the police didnt take any action or recover the missing child. Somehow,the girl herself managed to call her parents and inform them about the plight in Delhi and thereafter they approached Bachpan Bachao Andolan who in turn informed the local police.

After being rescued ,the girl was taken before Child welfare committee and later for a medical examination. The incident has once again brought into focus the light of thousands of girls under the garb of illegal placement agency. Just last week the Honb'le High court had summoned the Labour Secretary of Delhi on non- compliance of its order on regulation of placement agencies .Moreover as per the latest government records,over 67000 girls have gone missing in the country in 2013 with over 34,00 remaining untraced.

Mr R.S.Chaurasia,Chairperson,Bachpan Bachao Andolan, The majority of girls being trafficked by placement agencies are missing and kidnapped with the help of over 10,000 legal and illegal placement agencies are that are working in Delhi NCR alone. One shudders to think about the numbers and plight of thousand of trafficking victims in capital today
